My front-line role
I am the Conservative County Councillor for Hoddesdon North division. The ‘Your Community’ section provides local service information, news, events and contacts about the area.
I represent the interests of the residents of Hoddesdon North on Hertfordshire County Council. I also serve as the Borough Councillor on Broxbourne Council for Broxbourne & Hoddesdon South Ward, where I am also the Cabinet Member for Public & Environmental Protection.
I work closely with a range of public and voluntary organisations and speak and meet regularly with our local Member of Parliament, Charles Walker MP, in whose constituency our community lies.
Engaging with local residents and community groups is a vital part of my role. Feedback from residents is absolutely vital to the work I do for you, I am always happy to hear about issues by telephone, letter or email.
My County Council responsibilities
I joined the Council in 2013 and sit on the Education, Enterprise & Skills and the Customer Service, Performance & Libraries Cabinet Panels. I have also served on a number of Topic Groups. I have a wide range of interests on the council but am particularly keen to play a part in ensuring the welfare and education of our young people.
As is the case with every
County Councillor, I have a locality budget to spend on
community projects in the division. Follow the links for more details of the scheme and details of applications I
have previously agreed and declined.
Roles on outside bodies
I am a Member of the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority and of the University of Hertfordshire Business School Advisory Board. I am pleased to be a governor of The John Warner and Forres Primary Schools and a Member of the Rivers Educational Support Centre Management Committee.
Personal, professional and political details
I have lived and worked in Hertfordshire for much of the last 35 years and my daughter and two sons were born and educated in the county. I can say that my family and I love living in Hertfordshire, I am committed to playing an active role in its development.
Prior to becoming a Councillor I was Chief Executive of the Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce & Industry for over 18 years during which time I represented business interests on a number of local, regional and national bodies.
