My front-line role

I am the Conservative County Councillor for Berkhamsted, which since the recent boundary review now covers about 90% of the town.
I represent the interests of the 16,000 residents in Berkhamsted. You can see the current division boundaries on the map to be found at this link: http://webmaps.hertfordshire.gov.uk/herts/genview.htm?layers=%5b3:3%5d&title=The%20Council%20Electoral%20Divisions

I am also a town councillor on Berkhamsted Town Council, a trustee of the Town Hall, a member of the Executive Committee of the Berkhamsted and District Chamber of Commerce and a trustee of the town’s Market Fund which manages the market in the High Street. I also work closely with our Member of Parliament, David Gauke.

Residents who wish to raise any issue with me are welcome to do so at any time, whether by e-mail, letter or telephone. I will always deal promptly with casework issues.

As is the case with every county councillor, I have a locality budget to spend on community projects in the town. Follow the links for more details of the scheme and details of applications I have previously agreed and declined.

Personal. professional and political details

I grew up in Hertfordshire and attended the universities of London and Oxford. I am now retired but worked in the public sector for all of my working life; at first in universities, then in the Ministry of Defence, the Civil Aviation Authority and Royal Mail.  Since retiring I have spent most of my time working as a local councillor. I have been the County Councillor for Berkhamsted since 2009, I have been a town councillor since 1991 and was a borough councillor between 2000 and 2015. With what spare time I have I enjoy walking in the countryside and am gradually walking the length of several National Trails, including the Ridgeway.

Roles on outside bodies

I am the County Council’s representative on the Chilterns Conservation Board, of which I am currently Chairman, and on the LGA’s Strategic Aviation Special Interest Group (SASIG).
